The first month passed quickly. Life in Italy has kept us very busy. On our second day in Lecce we started building our own bikes. When we saw this on the schedule before arrival, we thought that ok, we will be walking forever, we don’t know how to build a bike! When we arrived, they gave us two bike frames and said something in Italian, which probably meant “Build a bike!”. Aaah, okei. Easy.. Here in Lecce there is one cool place named Ciclofficina Populare Knos where with the help of some amazing and talented guys it is possible to build yourself a bike. So we did. Already during the first week we were progressing nicely. And finally after 4 weeks we finished. We actually would have finished a lot earlier, but we always found something we wanted to change: colour, seat, handlebar, some little screw.. you name it! We were probably stalling a lot, because we liked spending time in Ciclo very much. With our Ciclofficina family and brand new bikes. But now I (Tairi) have the possibility to return to one of our favourite places in Lecce, because my bike was stolen one week after it was finished. What a shame :( R.I.P. Tairi's bike, you will be forever in our hearts ROMEIn the beginning of December we had our first trip to Rome. On the first day we did all the tourist stuff, including shopping and getting lost in the city. Zsofie was very popular in Rome, she enjoyed the fame a lot
Inglecce2 weeks ago we started with an English speaking club called INGLECCE (inglese+lecce, clever, huh?). Every week we create an environment for the locals and also for the foreigners living here to speak English. We have had 2 meetings so far and they both went great. We use non-formal education and the build-up of the night is similar to a youth exchange. First we started with a crazy (totally crazy) energizer, that actually to our big surprise worked very well to get the people going. We arranged a very warm environment for the activities, meaning that the people needed to move a lot. So it got hot. And ofcourse you cannot do anything without food in Italy so we made pasta and pizza for aperitive. We could hear the positive result of the night during the aperitive time - although the activities had finished, everybody was still speaking only English to eachother, also without having a non-italian in the group. Team building cosa?? what is this?? |
