This blog started thanks to the first Erasmus+ EVS project for VulcanicaMente “Learn it, Share it!” 2016-2017.
It is always worthy to share what you learn during your volunteering experience, so we decided to keep it alive.
It will collect what volcanic volunteers learn in Lecce, but also what Italians experience in their volunteering project abroad.
We hope you enjoy it!

2020-2021 "The World We Have"
ALINA
Yello! My name is Alina and I'm a young Romanian girl who has been all of her life out of her comfort zone. Since I was a kid, I've been involved in different activities that were meant to push my limits. I did fencing for 11 years; therefore, I've travelled a lot. Due to my athlete years, I discovered that I love to be a citizen of the World (of its people, nature and animals), to experience and be part of different cultures. I wouldn't say that I've found my "place", but what I know for sure is that nature and real experiences make me feel at home. After studying and living abroad, I felt that my journey is not over. For that reason, I've chosen not only to continue finding some missing pieces about myself, but also to find and fix some missing pieces that the World needs. SALUTI, Italy! Can't wait to experience together The World we have! CARLOS
Hi there! I come from Salamanca, an ancient Spanish city very close to Portugal. After my university education and some different working experiences, I decided to get involved in something that leaves a positive print on society. And this "something" was called The World We Have! In my free time I love to get to know different cultures (specially their food) and play some guitar music. |
ANAIS
Hello! I am Anaïs from Belgium. I am a recently graduated master student who is extremely passionate about sustainability and environmental education. When I finished my education I was a bit lost as to what to do next. I was working in a bar in The Hague, but when I saw the opportunity to become a volunteer in Lecce I applied immediately. Having lived in Torino previously for my erasmus exchange, I know and love the Italian culture. This love for Italy combined with the sustainable aspect of the project ‘The World We Have’ proved to be perfect for me. From the moment I applied, everything happened so fast and less than 2 weeks later here I am in Lecce. I am really excited to see what these next 10 months will bring and how we can make Lecce more sustainable together! PILLE
Tere! My name is Pille. I am from Estonia, which is a tiny country up North. I consider myself to be addicted to traveling. I have visited 23 countries so far, also did internships and exchange studies with Erasmus, but I have never lived in a foreign country for this long of a time! When I found this project I felt that it spoke to me. It seemed to have the same values as I do about the environment around us. Let’s see how we can change the world together! |

YASIN
Hello! I'm Yasin. I was born in Istanbul. I studied journalism and Public Relations in Turkey. Then I worked for a year in İstanbul, at an NGO engaged in activities related to refugees. I did my first EVS project in Spain. Now I'm in Lecce. I love getting lost in the city streets and discovering little details. Now let's make a beautiful life together. |
EPP
After taking part in VulcanicaMente’s project in April, I find myself back in Lecce 5 months later, staying for the next 10 months. So amazing, how life is leading us. I’m coming from a nordic country named Estonia. I’m very into nature, arts and music. I consider environmental themes as my passion. Years have passed since I finished my BA studies in Nature Sciences. I am slowly working towards finishing a business plan in nature tourism field, but before starting as an entrepreneur I just had to take part of a longer ESC project. I have had the chance to wander around in 10 different countries, but have never stayed that long. |
KARINA
My name is Karina, I come from Romania. However, after living in 3 different countries in the last 4 years, I would say I am more like a citizen of the Earth. I came to Lecce on my journey to self-discovery, looking for a mindful work environment. While I am an ESC volunteer of the project "Love in Action", I also write my bachelor thesis on circular economy and developing my artistic projects (making hand-made jewellery and writing songs). |
